Seven of Wands

In the depiction of the Seven of Wands, a man is holding his wand as a weapon in order to defend himself against six other people threatening him with their own wands. This is pretty indicative of the card's meaning.

General meaning

When you get the Seven of Wands, you are obviously in a situation where you feel you must defend yourself, your beliefs and your ideas. It is most likely you will be successful if you show the courage required by the occasion. Do not compromise in order to become accepted or liked and don't abandon the principles and values because your opponents are numerous or strong. The important thing is to be in peace with yourself. Stand up for who you are, what you have done and what you believe.

In negative position

If the Seven of Wands appears upright in a negative position, it probably means that you have become too defensive, unnecessarily aggressive and suspicious. You need to evaluate the situation calmly. Don't hesitate to stand up for what you consider right or fair but do get rid of imaginary foes as quickly as possible.

If the Seven of Wands appears reversed, it means you are not able to defend what your beliefs or deeds. Whether your opponents are more powerful, or your choices were not proper, you can't withstand the external pressure and the constant attacks so you are about to collapse. Whatever the situation, you need to change the way you're dealing with the opposition you're facing and think whether your opponents are right to attack you.
